They're getting closer to their dream of flying
This week, the 42nd Pro Aero Youth Camp is taking place in the Engadin. 160 young people from German-speaking Switzerland, French-speaking Switzerland, and Ticino are spending a week at the S-Chanf military camp, where they are learning about aviation in all its facets.
When 160 teenagers spend their summer vacation in classrooms and craft rooms, listening intently to the instructors and speakers, their interest in the subject must be considerable. The 14- to 16-year-old JULA participants are definitely interested in aviation. They arrived in the Engadin on Sunday. Since Monday, they’ve been immersing themselves in aviation, building airworthy gliders out of wood, launching rockets, and constructing their own hot-air balloon.
The highlight at the airfield
The first half of JULA flew by. As is tradition, Wednesday’s program included a visit to the Samedan airfield. For the young people, it was a welcome break from the craft and lecture room out onto the tarmac. What does it feel like to carry a paraglider, and what’s it like to sit in the cockpit? The young people were able to find out all that and much more, and they also got to marvel at airplanes, model aircraft, and helicopters in flight. It was a day that hopefully sparked an even greater passion for aviation.
Strong Commitment
We would like to thank all the volunteers who, through their dedication, share their knowledge and passion with the youth, who take care of the camp participants’ and guests’ meals, or who otherwise contribute in any way to the running and organization of JULA. It is they who make this unforgettable week possible.
You can read about how the young people themselves experienced JULA 2026 in a detailed article in the next issue of AeroRevue.

I'm ten years old, but in four years I'll start flying, just like my brother, who's twelve.
