Team Cellsius Project H2 receives Pro Aero Award

Great recognition for the Cellsius Project H2 focus team at ETH Zurich: the student team received the Young Talent Award from the Swiss Pro Aero Foundation. Markus Gygax, President of the Foundation Board, presented the award to a delegation of the team in Hangar 3 of the Innovation Park.

Students at ETH Zurich have been working on the future of climate-neutral aviation since 2020. The aim is to develop and test sustainable aircraft powertrains. As part of the focus project "Project H2", a team is currently working on a sustainable and efficient hydrogen propulsion system for small aircraft. Remarkably, this is the world's first hydrogen aircraft designed by students. The highly complex high-voltage and drive components are largely developed, simulated and manufactured by the project participants themselves.

Award for special achievements

For the eighth time, the Pro Aero Foundation awarded the Young Talent Award to young adults who have made a special commitment to aviation or who have distinguished themselves through outstanding achievements. The Pro Aero Foundation was established in 1938 with the aim of bringing aviation closer to the general public, according to the motto: If you don't fly, you'll be outflanked. "Today, everyone knows about flying. But this fascinating field needs talented and motivated young people who are committed to all sectors, who are infected by the aviation virus and who excel with top performances," emphasized Gygax in his laudatory speech. Just like the team of young mechanical engineering students from the Cellsius Project H2 team: "We are proud of your achievements and wish you continued success with your visionary projects in the future."
