Gliding: Junior-SM in Montricher
The young pilots of the Swiss gliding groups meet annually for the Swiss Cross-Country Gliding Championships. The event is characterized by the comradely and sporting attitude of the participants. This year, the Swiss championship was organized by the two Gliding groups Geneva and Vaud at their airfield in Montricher.
The Swiss Gliding Associationthe Aero Club of Switzerlandthe 100 Clubwhich Gliding veterans and Swiss Olympics support the pilots financially, but also with supervision and guidance in their sporting development. The costs of towing at competitions and any return tows for off-field landings are covered by the 100 Club. There are currently almost 50 juniors up to the age of 25 on the sports department's list of young talent, 15 of whom make up the junior squad, which is nominated annually.
From May 7 to May 10, the competition for the first place of the Junior Swiss Champion was flown in sometimes challenging meteorological conditions. After it was no longer possible to fly on May 10, the ranking list was finalized:
1st place, Leon Blum (ASG Zweisimmen) - Junior Swiss Champion
2nd place, Franck Delley (GVV Gruyère)
3rd place Stefan Gertsch (SG Säntis)
