Presentation of an Electric Airplane in the City of Bern

On Friday, August 21, 2026, a modern electric airplane will be on display in the heart of Bern, at the Bubenberg Monument on Hirschengraben.

Why is the Aero-Club of Switzerland launching this event? Seventy-five years ago, a Piper Cub light aircraft stood in this very spot to commemorate the founding of the AeCS in 1901 at the neighboring Café Rudolf (now Starbucks). At that time, the AeCS was celebrating its 50th anniversary. On August 21, starting at 10 a.m., you’ll have the opportunity to see a modern Velis Electro electric aircraft. Representatives of the AeCS and specialists from the electric aviation community look forward to your visit.
