IGOL meeting in Altenrhein with focus on P-16

The history of the FFA P-16 fighter aircraft attracted many interested visitors to the Altenrhein Aircraft and Vehicle Museum. No one could have explained the history of this legendary Swiss development better than the renowned Swiss engineer and aerospace specialist Dr. Georges Bridel.

Before the presentation, IGOL President Raphael Widmer welcomed the members to the annual meeting. All items on the agenda were approved unanimously. He devoted particular attention to the development of aviation in Eastern Switzerland, especially the St. Gallen-Altenrhein airfield.

The federal government's relief package 27 threatens to reduce subsidies for air traffic control. The St.Gallen-Altenrhein airfield is a key infrastructure in Eastern Switzerland. The planned removal of federal subsidies means the end for Altenrhein. The airfield is demonstrably extremely important for training, light and business aviation and would put Eastern Switzerland at a considerable disadvantage in terms of its important economic significance. As in the past, the IGOL would like to focus primarily on the needs of light and business aviation and aviation-related companies in Eastern Switzerland, Vorarlberg and the Principality of Liechtenstein. The IGOL is therefore calling for the best possible framework conditions, particularly with regard to the key infrastructure of St.Gallen-Altenrhein Airport. (see appendix)

Following the meeting, Dr. Georges Bridel spoke to a large audience about the aspects of the procurement of the P-16. The "second" Swiss jet, the Arbalète, was also presented. The reproduction of this pioneering Swiss aircraft is currently underway. AeroRevue" will present the project in the course of the year.
