The Birrfeld Air Show scheduled for September 12 must be postponed

Due to storm damage, the Birrfeld Air Show scheduled for September 12 cannot take place. Below is a statement from the organizing committee:

«On Friday, August 28, 2026, Birrfeld was hit by an exceptionally severe hailstorm. The consequences of this event continue to occupy us intensely to this day. Several hangars are currently only partially usable, numerous aircraft were damaged, and the cleanup and repair work will take quite some time to complete. In addition, the visible damage is currently affecting the appearance of our airfield.".

Over the past few days, the Board of Directors, management, and the organizing committee have explored various options. Our main concern was whether we could present Birrfeld to our guests, partners, and the public in the way we had originally planned. After careful consideration, we have concluded that this is not possible under the current circumstances.

An airfield festival is intended to spark enthusiasm for aviation, facilitate connections, and showcase the airfield at its best. Instead, the ongoing restoration work, the limited infrastructure, and the storm damage that has not yet been repaired would dominate the event. This meets neither our standards nor the experience we wish to offer our visitors.

We have therefore decided to postpone both the Airfield Festival and the Summer Night Festival and to reschedule them for a later date. »This decision is not an easy one for us, as countless hours of volunteer work, a great deal of passion, and tremendous dedication have gone into preparing this event over the past few months."
