Handover from Yves Burkhardt to Chrigel Markoff
On April 30, the AeCS Board of Directors bid farewell to its long-serving Secretary General Yves Burkhardt as he took his well-deserved retirement in glorious spring weather.
On January 1, 2012, Yves began his work as Secretary General of the AeCS, at that time still at Lidostrasse in Lucerne. On April 30, 2025, he officially handed over his duties to his successor Chrigel Markoff at the "new" AeCS headquarters on Maihofstrasse.
After a somewhat special journey, Yves and his wife Monika were greeted by the almost complete Board of Directors in front of the AeCS headquarters before attending his last Board meeting. Incidentally, Yves attended his first CC meeting in 1997, back then as a representative of the Model Flying Association.
After the official meeting, Central President Matthias Jauslin presented Yves with three symbolic gifts. A doorkeeper with aviation motifs symbolizes Yves' door, which was always open to anyone who came to him with advice, questions or concerns. An old airplane compass symbolizes the straight course that Yves set for the AeCS as "captain", but also the necessary course changes that he made in the interests of the association. Finally, a garden wind chime in the shape of a Pilatus PC-7 symbolizes the close and valuable connection to the Air Force and SPHAIR for the AeCS, but also stands as a symbol for the dedicated work of Yves Burkhardt for the promotion of youth and sport.
On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, Vice President Philip Bärtschi also thanked the outgoing Secretary General for his tireless commitment to the AeCS and the valuable work he has done for the association over the past decades. With a special gift voucher and a big round of applause, Yves was able to hand over the keys to the future management to his successor in the afternoon.
We wish Yves and his wife Monika all the best for this new chapter in their lives!
