Supporting youth development projects

The annual meeting of the Aero-Club Ostschweiz took place on the motor ship "Säntis" of the Schweiz. Bodensee-Schiffsbetriebe took place. During the crossing from Romanshorn to the AERO 2024 in Friedrichshafen, President Raphael Widmer-Kaufmann welcomed a large number of members with coffee and croissants. He expertly presented all the items on the agenda, which were unanimously approved.

In his review of 2023, he made special mention of AeCOS' involvement in the St. Gallen-Altenrhein airfield treaty and the sluggish negotiations on Zurich airspace. The proposed changes would have a massive impact on air traffic in Eastern Switzerland. The AeCOS argued that lowering the airspace to the east would have a negative impact on gliding operations in Amlikon, parachutists in Sitterdorf, balloon flights in the lower Toggenburg region and the population in general. Wind turbines are planned in the approach sector in the region of the Schänis airfield and the Bad Ragaz airfield. The wind turbines will endanger gliding operations.

Finally, the AeCOS is also involved in the upcoming reorganization of the Aero Club of Switzerland. With healthy finances, the AeCOS is able to support various projects, particularly in the area of youth development. The annual membership fees remain unchanged. The President and his Board were re-elected for a further term of office with applause. The members enjoyed an interesting day at the AERO trade fair with the admission tickets offered by AeCOS in cooperation with the trade fair. Felix Meier
