FlyGreen24: Flying sustainably

For many of us, flying is more than just transportation - it is a passion, a vocation and a responsibility. In view of global climate change, the issue of effective emission reductions is also increasingly taking center stage in general aviation.

Until recently, however, there was no solution in this area that was both ecologically effective and practical for pilots. Last year, volunt.aero took on an important pioneering role in this area. Using a digital platform, emissions could be easily calculated and, for the first time, reduced by investing in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). An approach that is now being systematically continued and expanded under the new name FlyGreen24.

With FlyGreen24, the digital platform not only has a fresh new look, but also an expanded range of content. The goal remains the same: to make climate protection in general aviation simpler, more transparent and more effective.

A central component of the offer is access to SAF. Together with Jet Aviation, FlyGreen24 enables location-independent access to SAF. As SAF is not available at all airports and is not compatible with every aircraft type, the fuel is blended and flown where it is technically possible.

Customers thus acquire SAF certificates (SAFc) via the FlyGreen24 platform and receive the associated climate benefits. This model is essential for general aviation, as SAF is now considered a key technology for achieving the industry's net-zero targets by 2050.

However, not all emissions can be completely avoided with SAF alone. So-called residual emissions remain. To offset these as well, FlyGreen24 is now focusing on high-quality CO₂ removal projects. The focus is particularly on regional projects such as that of Energie 360° and its subsidiary Bioenergie Frauenfeld. The wood-fired power plant in Frauenfeld uses regional waste wood to produce renewable electricity, heat and EBC-certified biochar, which binds carbon in the soil in the long term - a proven method with a demonstrable climate effect.

This means that emissions can not only be recorded precisely via the digital platform, but also offset directly through the use of SAF, CO₂ removal projects or a combination of both. Pilots can determine the percentage of their contribution and which initiative they would like to support.

Tip: Anyone already using the digital flight logbook from capzlog.aero benefits from a fast and seamless emissions calculation thanks to the automatic transmission of flight data.
