Kägiswil airfield defends itself against REGA statements
The operator of the Kägiswil airfield, the Obwalden Airfield Cooperative FGOW, is defending itself against REGA's statements and continues to fight for the preservation of the airfield.
"A solution to meet the requirements of the airfield cooperative, the Rotex company and Rega would be possible," says Bernhard Müller, project manager for conversion at FGOW, which currently has around 200 cooperative members. "But Rega is giving us the cold shoulder." It would have been possible to work with partners to expand and continue the existing facilities at Kägiswil airfield. However, Rega's current project is a completely new facility, which means that the conversion process has to start all over again with some changes to the regulations, for example in the area of noise, which experience has shown takes a lot of time.
"We regret the misrepresentation by Rega and are disappointed by their behavior," states FGOW President Thomas Geissdörfer. From the FGOW's point of view, a joint solution is still possible. However, Rega's approach clearly shows: "They want to displace the location of the flight schools and eliminate the important pilot training platform 'Kägiswil Airfield' in Central Switzerland". The statement that the conversion procedure has effectively failed is false, Geissdörfer continues.
