It can also hit your flying site!

With the petition for the continued existence of Kägiswil airfield, we have achieved a remarkable success in a short space of time: Within a month we received over 6000 signatures. But there should be many more!

Not only Kägiswil is affected: Model airfields are disappearing because courts are putting the wishes of individuals above the welfare of entire clubs. In traditional Belpmoos, the glider runway is to make way for a photovoltaic park, although there is more than enough space for this on roofs in the canton. Parachutists are suffering from more and more airspace restrictions. At Zurich and Basel airports, general aviation should ideally disappear altogether. With the exception of Bern and Grenchen, the federal government wants to leave the costs of air traffic control to the airport operators with the 2027 relief package, and so it goes on.

What business is it of ours as club presidents, regional managers or members if the Kägiswil airfield is to be closed for light aviation? As explained above, Kägiswil is just one example of a worrying development that is affecting the very substance of light aviation (see also AeroRevue 5/2025, where lawyer Philip Bärtschi describes the current situation). If Kägiswil disappears as an important training base in Central Switzerland, more than just a runway will be lost.

We therefore call on you to sign the AeCS petition to preserve the Kägiswil airfield! We must show solidarity and collect as many signatures as possible. With around 20,000 members and their families and friends, the potential is far from exhausted. Kägiswil is just one example: We want to be able to continue to provide interesting training for the next generation in all regions!

Thank you for supporting the petition and actively spreading the word. Please note that any donations made there will not go to the AeCS or Kägiswil airfield, but to the free online platform.
