Successful gliding day in Olten

The Gliding Day 2024 once again attracted around 300 visitors at the weekend. There was a comprehensive exhibition and a whole series of exciting presentations. 

On Saturday, November 16, the Olten town hall was transformed into a mecca for glider pilots. Around 300 glider pilots attended the successful event. Christian Heimlich, President of SG Olten, welcomed the participants and introduced them to the SG Olten, which is located not far from the Stadthalle Olten in the "Gheid". has been practicing gliding since 1931. Felix Deutsch, President of the SFVS division association, gave a brief insight into the gliding year 2024. Unfortunately, the bad weather and some accidents, some of which were fatal, clouded the picture somewhat. On the positive side, Jonas Langenegger was runner-up in the glider aerobatics world championship. And despite the difficult weather: in 2024, a total flight distance of over 983,000 kilometers was covered from Swiss airfields with gliders, as Valeria Huber, Head of Communications, noted in a witty quiz.
