The FOCA has a new director

The 42-year-old economist Francine Zimmermann will become Director of the FOCA on April 1. She replaces Christian Hegner, who will retire on this date. Zimmermann has worked as Vice Director at FOCA for several years. 

After graduating in economics and social sciences, Francine Zimmermann worked primarily in the Federal Administration, first at SECO and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. In 2015, she moved to the FOCA, where she helped set up the Innovation and Digitalization Section from 2015. She is currently Co-Head of the Aviation Strategy and Policy Division with around 70 employees.

She is responsible for central strategic dossiers such as international negotiations, the further development of aviation law, environmental and innovation issues as well as airport construction and operational permits. She also represents the Federal Administration on the Board of Directors of EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse.
