The \u00ab100 Years of Altenrhein Airfield\u00bb anniversary celebration is fast approaching. From August 28 to 30, 2026, the airfield at the eastern end of Lake Constance will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a festival and a major anniversary air show. One of the highlights will undoubtedly be one of the Patrouille Suisse\u2019s final performances.<\/strong><\/p>

When the St. Gallen-Altenrhein Airport celebrates its 100th anniversary at the end of August, many eyes will first turn skyward\u2014to the Patrouille Suisse and other international aerobatic teams performing at the temporary\u00a0 Program<\/a> are already listed. They provide the spectacular images that make such an anniversary unforgettable.\u00a0Anyone who wants to understand why Altenrhein has been a special place in Swiss aviation for a century will find the answers where this history is preserved and passed on day after day: at the Altenrhein Aviation Museum.<\/p>

The museum serves as the airfield\u2019s memory. Here, not only are aircraft preserved, but also memories, knowledge, and aviation traditions. Visitors walking through the hangars encounter not only technical masterpieces, but also a century of Swiss aviation\u2014told through the aircraft that have shaped Altenrhein and its history.<\/p>

With every launch, a piece of history takes flight<\/h3>

At the aviation museum, history doesn\u2019t stay grounded. The historic aircraft are restored, maintained, and flown regularly with great care. That\u2019s why Altenrhein has been regarded for years as one of Europe\u2019s most important flying museums. Where elsewhere barrier tape directs visitors\u2019 gaze toward historic exhibits, here legendary aircraft taxi out onto the runway. With every takeoff, a piece of aviation history takes flight. With the PC-7 SUBITO Team, the FMA-Prop Formation, and other historic aircraft, the Aviation Museum brings aviation history to life for this anniversary. The formations may be smaller than the major international aerobatic teams\u2014but their significance for this anniversary is no less. They showcase the aircraft that are inextricably linked to Swiss aviation and to Altenrhein.<\/p>

Pilots, mechanics, and numerous volunteers devote countless hours to restoring and maintaining historic aircraft and getting them safely into the air. They work with technical skill, great precision, and a passion that goes far beyond a mere hobby. Their dedication ensures that history isn\u2019t just preserved\u2014it\u2019s brought to life.<\/p>
