On Thursday, the National Council approved the amendment to the Aviation Act (LFG) by a vote of 130 to 60. The AeCS welcomes this decision, which enshrines in law the need for airfields in addition to ultralight aircraft and customs airports.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Matthias Jauslin, a member of the National Council and president of the AeCS, considers it a success that his minority motion regarding Article 36 received the necessary support. The motion stipulates that not only the major national airports should receive guarantees of continued operation, but also smaller airfields, which are of great importance for pilot training and continuing education as well as for recreational aviation.<\/p>\n

There is also good news regarding ultralight aircraft and customs airfields.\u00a0 The revised Aviation Act generally provides for the certification of ultralight aircraft with a takeoff weight of up to 600 kg, as is customary in Europe. This means that this category is now incorporated into Swiss law. The second piece of good news concerns the repeal of Article 9 regarding customs airfields. The Federal Customs Administration has signaled that the regulations for cross-border flights should be aligned with the regulations for road vehicles.<\/em>\u00a0In both cases, the AeCS was able to carry out intensive preparatory work for these adjustments thanks to the representation of National Councillor and Central President Matthias Samuel Jauslin.<\/p>\n

The bill will now go to the Council of States.<\/p>\n
