Ren\u00e9 Maire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The AeCS has received the sad news that our honorary member, founder and long-time member of the AeroMed department, Dr. Ren\u00e9 Maire, passed away on February 23.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ren\u00e9 Maire, a glider pilot for many years, became the first AeCS association doctor in 1979. As a dedicated team doctor, he took part in two gliding and two parachute world championships. Ren\u00e9 Maire was also very active internationally as a specialist expert. In 1982, he was elected AeCS delegate to the CIMP (Commission internationale m\u00e9dico-physiologique = medical commission of the FAI). The FAI (F\u00e9d\u00e9ration a\u00e9ronautique internationale) is the international umbrella organization for aviation sports. He was a member of the CIMP from 1982 to 2016; he was its President from 1999 to 2001. After his retirement from the AeroMed 2023 department, he also carried out other projects within the EASA.
